Jamie Jo Braner is a Remarkable Woman from Breckenridge, Colorado. She runs KIVU Gap Year, a Program for high school to college age students to travel the world, experience different cultures, and develop their faith. She has been married to her husband Andy for 19 years and loves being a mom to their five children, two of whom are adopted from Rwanda.

Jamie Jo and I had a wonderful conversation about the importance as a woman of being honest and real. She shared about her upbringing in a well-known family, and how she felt the expectation to be happy all the time. As an adult, she has given herself permission to be honest about how she’s really doing and share that with others. I loved how she described herself as “honest to a fault.” I completely resonated!

As women and moms, we are often expected to be positive and upbeat all the time. You’ll enjoy listening to Jamie as she shares her motivation for her passion for other moms. She’s honest about her own challenges as a working mom and where she’s at in her own journey.

I really loved Jamie Jo’s advice for women, which again tied in with her theme of giving yourself permission to be honest and real. Listen in. It’s something you will remember every time you look in a mirror.

One of her favorite books recently was The Gift of Imperfection by Brene Brown, an author I enjoy as well.

Jamie Jo keeps busy with KIVU Gap Year as it continues to expand. Students live and work in countries like Rwanda, Israel, Peru, or even urban cities in the United States. They are kicking off a new year with their students this week in Breckenridge, CO before they spread out around the world. Jamie Jo welcomes any inquiries as to whether this program is a possible opportunity for your child.
