How To Practice Radical Self-Love

Self care isn’t selfish. It is the key to our health, happiness and makes us better people. It is important to acknowledge my best qualities and practice radical self-love. Negative thoughts become all too pervasive and detrimental. They will start to eat away at our ability to be happy and are at the core of low self esteem and self confidence.

Staying present and brushing the dirt of daily challenges off your shoulder isn’t always easy, but it’s important. No matter what happens today, tomorrow or next week, you’re still you, and that’s REMARKABLE! Positive self talk has the ability to reduce stress and can lead to a much more improved mood.

There are several ways you can shift your negative thoughts to more positive thoughts. Here are a few things that I do:

Let the music play

Music ignites passion and emotion in all of us. Music can be transformational. Actively making music a part of your life has a remarkable positive attitude. Yes, I am the girl with the window down, loud music and singing as if no one can see me.

Silence Your Inner Critic

I allow myself to be wrong. I allow myself to fail. I allow myself to make mistakes. Those three things equal GROWTH.

Release and Relax

If I am in a situation where I am stuck and not free to excuse myself and a negative thought pops up, I blink and say the words “release and relax,” and that helps me let it go and move past the negativity.

Loving yourself holds the power to turn off those negative voices. This will allow you to accept yourself for who you are which includes your imperfections. Here is a great article by Dr. Lissa Rankin where she offers a 6 – Step Guide to Radical Self- Healing.
